Community Giving – Our Support for Staffordshire Women’s Aid
“We are delighted to have received a donation of £1,500 from Engaging Communities Solutions.”
As a Community Interest Company* (CIC), we are always looking for ways that we can help other companies and organisations in their endeavours, especially those in the charity and not for profit sector, who have been particularly hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
We were delighted, therefore, to have made a donation to Staffordshire Women’s Aid, who have been providing domestic and sexual violence services and support to Women and their Children since 1976. They provide an incredibly important service, that includes: a 24-hour helpline, refuge accommodation, 1 to 1 emotional support and counselling. Sadly the number of ‘phone calls they received during lockdown increased.
A message from their Chief Executive
“During the last 3 months we have been unable to accept food and clothing donations and our fundraising events have been cancelled. This has thrown us additional challenges, but it is with the support from our local community that we have been able to ensure those in our care have been kept safe. We expected calls to our Helpline to increase during ‘lockdown’ and sadly, we were proved right. Knowing that our local organisations and businesses are at our side is a huge boost not only for the staff but for those we support.
Organisations such as Engaging Communities Solutions play such a crucial role in ensuring grass-roots organisations such as ours are not forgotten and the work we do is recognised as life-changing. We look forward to future collaborations with Engaging Communities Solutions and would like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you for all that you do for all those you support locally.”
